Your body is your first home.
Practice being at home in your life.
Not perfect. Not optimized. At home.
Practice that supports real life.
Abode Yoga is an intimate practice house for movement, study, reflection, and community.
Rooted in Katonah Yoga® and seasonal rhythm, Abode helps people build a practice that supports real life: one that brings them back to their body, their breath, their patterns, their relationships, and the places where they are learning how to dwell well.
Practice with us.
There is more than one way into the house.
Whether you are looking for a consistent weekly practice, a place to study, or a deeper seasonal experience, begin with the room that meets you where you are.
Weekly Classes
A consistent place to move, breathe, and notice what is happening in real time. Classes help you build skill, restore perspective, and develop a practice you can return to.
-
Katonah Yoga is a technique that is used to enhance your current practice. Created by Navine Michaan 40 years ago, you will hear themes and metaphors derived from Taoist theory, yoga as origami, and utilizing our form for function. Katonah Yoga emphasizes how you show up on the mat and off the mat. The foundation of this class is built on a vinyasa practice.

All Classes are 60 minutes in length unless noted otherwise
Workshops + Study
Go further into the ideas behind the practice through workshops, series, and shared study rooted in Katonah Yoga® and seasonal wisdom.

Community Gatherings
Practice also happens through conversation, creativity, partnership, and time spent together. Gather beyond the regular class through special events and community-centered offerings.
The house changes with the season.
Practice is not meant to look the same every day or ask you to remain the same person throughout the year.
Abode’s classes, workshops, and programs change shape with the rhythms of real life. Some seasons call for more structure. Others call for rest, reflection, expression, or renewed direction. A steady foundation gives us the freedom to add, take away, soften, strengthen, pause, and return.
What holds the house.
A home needs more than walls. These four foundations shape how Abode teaches, gathers, and grows.
Community
Without community, there is simply no way to exist.
Abode is built around the belief that practice is strengthened by the people with whom we share it. Community takes shape through group practice, quarterly artist rotations, partnerships with local clubs and organizations, pay-what-you-can opportunities, and spaces where people can genuinely connect.
Support
Support is what allows something to last.
At Abode, support means thoughtful teaching, clear structures, and a culture in which asking for help is part of the practice. In community, support reminds us that we do not have to hold everything alone.
Form
Form gives function somewhere to live.
Form is not rigidity. It is the structure that makes practice useful and gives us something reliable to work with. Form becomes a kind of support: a way to know where we are and a way to return.
Education
Education is the willingness to stay curious.
We study the body, the seasons, our patterns, and the tools that help us make more informed choices. The goal is not to collect knowledge. It is to bring what we learn into the way we practice, relate, and live.
The Abode Approach
Rooted in Katonah Yoga®
A practice of pattern, perspective, and choice.
At Abode, Katonah Yoga® is not treated as a collection of perfect answers. It is a practical framework for seeing how we inhabit our bodies, organize our lives, and respond to change.
Alongside seasonal wisdom from Traditional Chinese Medicine, the practice helps us notice our tendencies, work with the conditions around us, and develop more options for how we move through the world.
There is depth here, but not dogma. You are invited to study, question, experience, and make the practice your own.
First Visit
Begin where you are.
You do not need to be flexible. You do not need to understand Katonah Yoga®. You do not need to arrive with an established practice. Whether you have practiced for years or are stepping into a yoga space for the first time, you are welcome to begin with the body and the life you have today.
Practice is one piece of a much larger puzzle.
Abode began from a deep love of the physical practice. The more I studied Katonah Yoga®, however, the more I began to understand that what happens on the mat is only one part of the work.
Practice gives us a place to study our patterns, build awareness, and develop new ways of responding, and its value is revealed in how those tools support our everyday lives. How we move through change. How we relate to other people. How we care for ourselves, participate in community, and return when life pulls us away from center.
Abode is a yoga studio, but the practice is not where the conversation ends. It is one piece of a larger puzzle, and one that helps us feel more supported, capable, and at home in the lives we are building.
