“My hope is for every person will feel more connected to their body and begin to feel at home.”

Alyssa Karmia

I built Abode to help you feel at home in your body, on the mat, and in real life. My classes are methods, not mystique: Katonah Yoga® structure to orient you, mobility to respect joints and tissues, breath work to organize effort, meditation to sharpen attention, and strength principles so shapes hold up under load. We set things up cleanly, repeat with purpose, and progress in ways you can measure. The goal isn’t performance; it’s orientation, knowing where you are, how you’re organized, and how to navigate stress with better tools.

Credentials inform the method. I earned my 200-Hour Yoga Certification at BlueSpot Yoga in 2017 (Columbus, OH; led by Staci McCool and Cindy Lunsford). I’m also a 200-Hour Katonah Yoga® teacher who has studied with founder Nevine Michaan, Josie Schweitzer, and other senior teachers nationwide. From 2018-2024, I was an ACE-Certified Personal Trainer, which means I fold real anatomy and strength training into the work so you get durable outcomes, not temporary highs.

Come for the structure, stay for the freedom. Whether you practice in community or 1:1, you’ll leave with practical techniques you can use at home—your physical space and your embodied one—so you can move through life with more clarity, capacity, and ease.
